40 Days of Prayer for the Children
In the fall, the Sunday School takes part in the 40 Days of Prayer for Children This year, we have chosen Habitat for Humanity as the recepient ofthe children's special offering, not only during the 40 Days of Prayer, but throughout the year. The children will be learning about the Habitat for Humanity and working to support them thoughout the 2007-2008 Sunday School year.In the words of the Bergen County Habitat mission statement& &#quot;Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County is a non-profit, all-encompassing organization which seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness in Bergen County and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.&#quot; Since Habitat was founded i n1976 by Millard Fuller and his wife, HFHI has built more than 225,000 houses worldwide providing decent, affordable housing for more than one million people.
The children and youth of the church will be taking up a special offering to support Habitat following worship each Sunday following worship during the 40 Days of Prayer. We will conclude with the celebration of Children's Sabbath on October 21st.
Also, please remember children and their families in your personal prayers. Let us pray that we may find a way to take care of all of God's children so that someday no children will be homeless, but rather that all children in Bergen County and around the world will have a safe and decent place to call home. Please join in this special program of prayer and activities.
